The Peach Standard · The Selection

Know your counsel

Peach considers the proceeding first, then identifies a Georgia attorney whose relevant experience, professional standing, availability, and judgment fit the defined role.

The complete handoff

Where this stage sits in the process.

Purpose

Why this stage matters.

The firm should know who will appear before the engagement is confirmed. Selection is based on the assignment’s needs—not proximity alone—and remains subject to counsel’s own conflict and competency review.

What the requesting firm should provide

  • The experience level and subject familiarity the firm believes are essential
  • Any client, carrier, panel, co-counsel, or internal approval requirements
  • Specific venue or procedural familiarity that would materially affect performance
  • Expected preparation time, communication cadence, and appearance duration
  • Whether continuity may be needed for a continued hearing or later proceeding
  • Any objective reason a proposed attorney may not fit the client or assignment

Questions Peach must resolve

  • Does proposed counsel’s verified background align with the accepted scope?
  • Has the attorney independently accepted the assignment and confirmed availability?
  • Has the requesting firm reviewed and approved proposed counsel before engagement?
